HIGH WIRE.

I fell into your gravity
a gilded butterfly
with filigree wings.

Is that how it seemed?

Playing with fire
close to the edge
back to the wire.

Is danger our high?

Too close to the sun
scorches the mind
feeds the flame.

Is no one to blame?

Burnt out too soon
senses refined
regret has no face.

Is it part of the race?

Close your eyes tight
it's only a dream
that ends with the night.
