Such a sad time for me, I lost my dear dad and have just returned home after the funeral for a few days to catch up here, then back to Suffolk to make sure Mum doesn't miss out on any of the Churchs Christmas festivities.

My poor dogs have no idea if they live here in the East Midlands or in Suffolk where my folks live.
I tend to think they feel Suffolk is there home, they have spent so long there this last 18 months.

Ellie was very naughty and chewed through the burglar alarm wire at my Mothers while we were away so now I have that to fix as well.

That will teach me not to pop her in her indoor kennel when we go out. Lol.

Hang on in there Jan. It may take a long long time to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it's there for sure!

This poem and the wonderful photo of fighting male pheasants, reminded me of last week.

I was driving down a very narrow, quiet country road when I came across two male pheasants fighting in the middle of the road. I slowed down, expecting them to break away and fly off but they seemed total unaware of my car.
I advanced slowly until I was almost on top of them. Still they carried on kicking each other for all they were worth. I blew my hooter several times and flashed my lights at them but still they carried on their fight for the little lady that awaited the conqueror. After exhausting any loud noises I could make with the car, I opened the window and started shouting at them but still they persisted in their bid to kill each other. It was no good, I would have to get out of the car and go and break up this fight myself. It wasn’t until I opened the door and was half way out of the car, shouting as I went, that they suddenly shirked and at the same time, let go of each other and both rose into the air in flight, one going right and the other left. I just hope the little lady was worth all this trouble. I have noticed there seems to be a shortage of hen birds in Suffolk this year. We have a lone male that struts his worth back and forth everyday in his bid to find a lady friend but he is always alone.

William Blake - The Birds

He. Where thou dwellest, in what grove,
Tell me Fair One, tell me Love;
Where thou thy charming nest dost build,
O thou pride of every field!
She. Yonder stands a lonely tree,
There I live and mourn for thee;
Morning drinks my silent tear,
And evening winds my sorrow bear.

He. O thou summer's harmony,
I have liv'd and mourn'd for thee;
Each day I mourn along the wood,
And night hath heard my sorrows loud.

She. Dost thou truly long for me?
And am I thus sweet to thee?
Sorrow now is at an end,
O my Lover and my Friend!

He. Come, on wings of joy we'll fly
To where my bower hangs on high;
Come, and make thy calm retreat
Among green leaves and blossoms sweet.

My grandson used to put pheasant eggs under a chicken Jan and the chicks
didn't know if he was their 'mum' or the hen.... one of them, Alice, stayed
around the house for yonks, even rearing her own brood under a bush
by the front door..........they are beautiful, vain but so stupid birds. I wish
people weren't so keen to shoot them, it's too easy, they don't seem to
want to get far off the ground.

What an awful day. I had to get mum into hospital in the morning and I never got home until 10.45pm. But my daughter had left a text on my phone to say log onto the net you have mail.
Well it my day. Se had sent a photo my new Granddaughter, an English Pointer, I’m sure which one she is but they are all adorable. We lost old Molly a couple of weeks ago, a sweet black Lab. Since then Jack-son my daughters Weirmaraner has been lost. He wont play ball with my two Labs and has gone off his food. He just walks around with his head hanging down. Apart from the first few weeks of life he has always had Molly by his side. They even slept together in the same bed. Lets hope his new little sister will do the trick and help him to cheer up a little.

Hi Buds.

I’m real fed up right now.
Two weeks ago my car had the drivers door smashed in a smash and grab while I was at my mums looking after her and now this week when I returned home, I found someone had cut a hole in the roof of one of the sheds and stole all my petrol chain saw, petrol hedge trimmer, petrol strimmer and my petrol garden vac/blower. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I’m just waiting for the third thing to go wrong!!!

A word of warning about PC World.
My Laptop went into them for repair. They said it had to go back to Packard Bell because it was still under warranty and it would be 28 days and I would receive a text when Packard Bell returned it to PC World.
Well, 28 days came and no text from them to say they had received it back from Packard Bell. So I phoned Packard Bell to see what was taking so long and guess what, my Laptop had been sent back, signed for, fully repaired to PC World and had been sitting in PC World for 3 weeks and what’s more it was only a sticky on/off button and not the Mother Board which PC World had diagnosed. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Moan over.

I had a BBQ on Saturday night and bought one of those disposable BBQ’s to save having to clean the gas one. Lazy I know. It said to stand it on a firm surface, which I did. The big heavy metal lid of one of the log bunkers. All went so well and we were all impressed by how good these disposable BBQ were. After we had eaten we came inside to play cards. Sometime later, thankfully, someone went outside to have a cigar and noticed smoke coming from the bunker, the logs in the bunker had caught fire from the heat. I now have one bunker full of dried logs for the winter and one bunker of very wet logs. _____________ii I wont do that again.

PC world are known to be careless. You have to stand over them with a stick to get things done.
The diposable BBQ's are so smokey, we lit one a few Sundays ago and my neighbour slammed her bedroom windows and glared........I think I should have gone round and apologised but she looked frightening @@iio
Hope things improve for you Jan.
