Last Saturday, a glorious day, I took the 50 min boat trip to Sark - it's a car/motor
bike free island and the steep hill from landing up into the village is by tractor and
trailer; from then on the choice is either your own two feet, hire a bike or horse
and carriage which also provides the island taxi service !
I opted for a 2 hr tour by horse power which was delightful but so incredibly slow
that the 'walkers' were waving as they overtook us - my two 'travelling' companions
were the highlight of the day...two quite elderly gents who's main concern was how
to get up the two steps at the back of the 'cart' - impossible (they said) without help.
They both had ample 'backsides' so the lady driver and I decided to try linking
hands under their bums and propelling them upwards as they heaved themselves in.
Unfortunately I think they liked this a tad too much as we had several aborted efforts
and they giggled and twinkled like a pair of teenagers. I think I 'scored' with Reg but
my fascination was restricted to his top set of teeth which had a life of their own
and kept trying to escape, totally un-perturbed he popped them back up again
without a break in his chatter -two nice old chaps and a lovely island.

An enjoyable Saturday.

La Coupee, the Causeway between Sark and Little Sark-the middle sandy strip is to stop the
horses slipping......scary !

Not sure what this was doing bobbing about off shore but
no shots were fired and they took no prisoners.
